Our Ethos
Environmental Sustainability
A sustainable world is one in which our environmental systems and societies flourish, natural resources are able to replenish themselves, and people are able to live healthy and secure lives.
The CHAI Hub is embedding environmental sustainability (ES) based on the University of Edinburgh’s institutional plans and policies including (but not limited to), physical environment and infrastructure; business travel, and external stakeholder and public engagement. We will comply with the Greening Government commitments (2021- 25) to mitigate climate change in line with national UK legislative targets.
We are currently developing an ES action plan, in collaboration with our stakeholders and we are particularly keen to explore the carbon footprint that AI research has. Our action plan will be published here in the Spring of 2025.
We want everyone in our community - our researchers, our staff and our stakeholders - to work with us to build a more sustainable future for all.
Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI)
The CHAI Hub is an international consortium of universities, industry partners, government bodies, and regulatory entities coming together to develop a fully explainable causal AI platform for healthcare challenges.
A critical part of the Hub’s success will be the creation and management of a diverse and inclusive CHAI community who will co-ideate, co-design and co-implement our research and innovation. We are committed to placing EDI at the core of our work, which will enable us to tap into a wider range of global talent, elevate the quality of our research, and expand the impact of our initiatives within the community.
